A THIRD of the 300 workers being axed by Fox’s Biscuits across its Uttoxeter and Batley sites will be from the Uttoxeter factory, it has been confirmed.

Fox’s parent company Northern Foods announced earlier this week that it would be cutting 300 jobs across the two factories, one of which is still due to close within the next two years as the firm looks to create a ‘supersite’.
A spokesman for Northern Foods has now confirmed to the Mail that around a third of the losses — 100 jobs — will be from Uttoxeter’s Cheadle Road site while two thirds will be from the factory in Batley.
The jobs are being lost as a result of modernisation at the two plants and most of the job losses are hoped to be made through voluntary redundancies and cuts in temporary and agency staff.
The Mail revealed yesterday how Fox’s plans to introduce a ‘robot’ operating system.
