webpicA FATHER who assaulted his partner in a children’s play area at a village pub situated just off the A38, has been given a community order.
Lee Hitchman was with his partner Rebecca Murray celebrating their child’s birthday at the Fradley Arms pub on February 10 when the incident happened.
Burton Magistrates Court heard, on Friday, that the 34-year-old held Ms Murray’s upper arm and twisted it, before holding her up against the netting in the Wacky Warehouse area of the pub in full view of their child and other children and families.
Prosecutor Rachel Smith said: “When the defendant pushed the victim up against the netting, he said ‘shut up or I will beat the s*** out of you’.”
Mark Matthews, defending, said Hitchman had acknowledged he needs help and was full of remorse for what had happened.
Hitchman, of Hockley Road, Wilnecote, was given a community order for 24 months, including 120 hours of unpaid work, and he was ordered to pay £85 in court costs, and a £60 victim surcharge.
