A BURTON-based pub firm has donated £400 towards new camping equipment for a scout group.

Punch Taverns, based in Centrum 100, made a £400 donation through its Punch Community Promise initiative to the 17th Burton 1st Branston Scout Group.

The funds went towards the cost of the group’s camping equipment, including new dining shelters and tents.

John Bowering, group scout leader, said: “We are an ever growing group with a full troop of 44.

“As we now offer the beaver scouts one night away as experience, we are finding it difficult to do this with our current levels of camping equipment.

“We are delighted with the donation from Punch and it will enable all of our members to benefit from the camping trips, learning vital skills as well as having a good time.”
