A GROUP of sixth form students from Paget High School are challenging themselves to a 56 mile hike in 24 hours in aid of two charities.
The ‘Bullock Smithy Hike’ is a 56 mile journey starting and finishing at Hazel Grove, in Stockport, taking in all the terrain and challenges the Peak District presents.
The challenge has been set up to raise funds for the Make a Wish foundation and World Wildlife Fund and will feature both pupils and teachers.
Jordan Allsop, one of the participants, approached firm Makers Construction, where he had been working over the summer holidays, to help provide the necessary safety visibility vests for the challenge.
Simon Lamb, managing director of Makers, told the Mail why the firm stepped in to help.
He said: “Jordan asked if it would be possible for the company to provide the required safety vests for their challenge.
“We were only too happy to help as a reward for his hard work and contribution over the summer.
“We hope they will be clearly visible and raise awareness for their chosen causes.”
