GYM users in Burton are being challenged to soldier on through a fitness endurance event in a campaign to raise money for a worthy cause.
E3 Fitness, in Wetmore Road, is taking part in the Gym for Heroes Endurance Campaign, taking place between July 24 and 30 across the country, with all proceeds going towards Help for Heroes.
The campaign consists of two challenges for differing abilities, one 12 hours long and the other three hours long.
The 12-hour long challenge consists of four hours on a rowing machine, four hours on an exercise bike and four hours on the treadmill.
People can either take part in teams or individually. Gym owner Jason Stennett, said: “I’m willing to make these facilities available for the challenge, and anyone who wants to take part should contact us.
Mr Haresign, who hopes to make it an annual nationwide event, is himself doing two 12-hour challenges and three five-hour challenges throughout the week.
He said: “I decided to do it because for Children in Need last year, I ran for 10 hours, covering 56 miles, and this year I thought I’d do it for Help for Heroes.
Mr Gilmore recently completed the London Marathon in five hours for Help for Heroes.
He said: “I think it’s brilliant. It’s a good idea and anything that gets the profile of Help for Heroes out there is a good thing.” The challenge costs £10 to enter and participants will receive a T-shirt, a drinks bottle and a medal.
