“The assessment process is unfortunately taking longer than originally expected.

“PIP is an entirely new benefit and therefore requires a new way of assessing claimants’ requirements, including a new complex and rigorous audit criteria.

“As a result, the number of assessments due to be carried out in these initial stages are taking much longer than originally expected.”
