A POPULAR town centre music shop will be joined by a rock legend to celebrate the joys of a specialist guitar after being made official suppliers.
Bernie Marsden, a former guitarist in 1980s rockers Whitesnake, known for hits like Here I Go Again and Is This Love, will join with Pete Oakley Music for a special gig next month.
It marks the Station Street shop becoming one of only 21 official suppliers of American PRS guitars in the country, as well as the store’s 21st birthday in the town.
Owner Mr Oakley told the Mail what makes the guitars so special and why it was such an honour for his shop to be a supplier.
He said: “These guitars are quality – the attention to detail and sheer beauty is absolutely stunning.
“They are also one of the easiest electric guitars to play and the most fantastic sounding guitars you can buy.
“There has never been a PRS dealership in Burton before and they are usually reserved for the big cities.
“It is quite a coup for Burton as you would not expect a town this size to have this depth of range of PRS guitars.”
To celebrate Pete Oakley Music, in conjunction with PRS guitars, will be holding an event at Tower Brewery, in Wharf Road, from 7.30pm on October 16.
Mr Marsden, who uses a PRS guitar, will be performing live and there will be a chance to talk to the master.
“I think it will be a great night,” Mr Oakley said.
“We are trying to attract as many guitarists as possible and we are keeping the cost to a minimum.”
Tickets will soon be available in store but can be reserved now.
