Written byHELEN KREFT

A STREET dancing duo has claimed the top spot in a talent competition showcasing amazing skills of a Burton high school.

The de Ferrers Academy held its Talent of Tomorrow Grand Finale and street dancers Word featuring Year Seven pupils Elise Tunstall and Trey Hoskins won first place with a £200 cash prize.

In second place was singer and pianist Georgia Hannibal, from Year Eight, and finally Year Seven pupil Connor Douglas took third prize with his singing talent.

The Academy held auditions for budding performers before half term and the students taking part in show were the finalists.

Simon Aston, musical director at The de Ferrers Academy, said: “All entries we had for the competition were great so we’ve had a really tough job deciding who to put through. After some long discussions, we managed to whittle it down to the final few.”

The show included a wide variety of pupil performances including musical acts, dancers and a magician.
