Home care firm to create 30 new jobs in Burton

A BURTON firm which specialises in athome care for the elderly is creating 30 new jobs following a sharp increase in demand for its services.

online newsHome Instead Senior Care, based in the Centrum 100 industrial estate, revealed that the new roles will be created throughout 2012.

Owner John Winfieldale spoke to the Mail about how word of mouth about the different approach the company takes has meant it has been receiving more and more inquiries and work since the turn of the year.

He said: “The recent publication of the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s year-long inquiry into home care has helped to inform people that the current system of care simply isn’t working and it’s why we take a different approach.

“We offer continuity of care whereby clients are visited by the same carers, ensuring that relationships are built.

“Our care is tailored to the needs of each individual and we can make a real difference to the quality of life of not only our clients, but their families too.”

“It is at times like Christmas and New Year, when we see more than usual of our elderly relatives and spend quality time with them, that issues can become apparent.

“Perhaps your mother doesn’t seem as mobile as she once was — maybe dad appears uncertain on his feet or has become worryingly forgetful.

“We find that families have time to talk and discuss new arrangements for supporting their parents which then come to fruition in January and February.

“Although our existing care workers come from a hugely varied background, the one thing they have in common is that they all have a real passion for helping others and caring for people in our local community.”

The firm has been operating in Burton and East Staffordshire for more than 18 months.

Services are tailored to the needs of individuals and range from companionship and light housekeeping to convalescence care and shopping.
