HOUSING experts will meet to discuss solutions to the lack of affordable housing in South Derbyshire.
According to the National Housing Federation (NHF) less than half the houses needed are being built resulting in rising house prices and the cost of private rent.
Homelessness has also increased by 24 per cent in the region, according to the NHF.
But experts will discuss solution to the problems at the NHF annual conference in Nottingham on March 14.
Chris Hobson, East Midlands lead manager for the NHF said: “It’s clear that we desperately need to be building more homes across all sectors of the market, to address the existing housing crisis and help us keep pace with new households forming.
“The main focus of the event is about what housing associations will look like in the future and how they may need to change to enable them to continue to provide affordable housing.”
