“We will continue to take a tough stance on criminals involved in drugs and related anti-social behaviour.

“Our communities need and should feel safe and we will do our utmost to protect you and your families.

“The community has played a major part by giving information which has been vital for the investigators.

“For us to continue to focus on these criminals, we still need people to come forward and tell us of their suspicions about people or vehicles involved in drug dealing.

“We know that by taking some suspected dealers off the streets there will be a gap for others to move in and we’re continuing operations to thwart them for coming into our town.”

The force revealed that it had seen an unprecedented rise in the number of calls from members of the public offering information following the raids.

It was also revealed that following the raids significant quantities of heroin, cocaine, cannabis and cash were recovered.

Sergeant Bob Champeau, who is spearheading efforts to make sure the work of Operation Nemesis continues, said: “We will carry on battling this problem for as long as it takes. We will do this through enforcement and education.

“Operation Nemesis is here, here to stay and anyone who wants to continue taking or dealing drugs should know that it could be you we come after next.”
