Kids handed chance to be an England mascot

Written byROB SMYTH

BURTON Albion is offering young supporters the chance to lead out some of the future stars of English football.

The Brewers have launched a competition to find two lucky young fans who will be the mascots when England Under-17s play Russia at the Pirelli Stadium later this month.

The match, a crucial Euro Elite Qualifying Round, kicks off at 7pm on Monday, March 25.

Three days later, John Peacock’s men return to the Pirelli to play Slovenia as they bid to qualify for a place in May’s Euro Championship Finals in Slovakia.

An Albion spokesman said: “There are two mascot packages up for grabs, with the winning youngsters able to lead the country out before the start of the match against Russia.

“To be in with a chance of leading out England, all people need to do is answer a simple question.”

The question is: What is the nickname of the England national team?

People can choose from the answers:

A. The Three Bears

B. The Three Horses

C. The Three Lions

The spokesman for the club added: “Send your answer by email to media@burtonalbionfc.co.uk by 5pm on Sunday, March 17. Winners will be contacted the following day by 12pm.

“Please ensure you include your full name, age, shirt size, contact telephone number, address and a recent photo. Good luck.”

The ground was chosen to host the games due to its proximity to St George’s Park.

Albion chairman Ben Robinson said: “We are delighted to be once again hosting international football at the Pirelli Stadium, with these two fantastic matches involving the England Under-17s.”
