A FORMER Paget School pupil will receive a royal seal of approval when she receives her gold Duke of Edinburgh award from the man himself, Prince Philip.
Laura Bingham, of Stanton Road, Burton, will travel to St James’s Palace on Thursday to accept the certificate for the award, which is the culmination of a year of hard work and dedication.
The 18-year-old, who is now studying geography at Lancaster University, spent time volunteering as a sports leader at Paulet High School, learned to drive and played with Burton Albion Ladies FC, among other things, in order to earn the award. She also took part in an expedition in the Lake District.
Laura said: “Overall by completing the DofE award I’ve made friends for life and it has taught me a lot about basic survival and skills that have set me up for my adult life. I would recommend anyone doing the award if they seek variety and are an outgoing person.”
