REGARDING the letter ‘When is cruelty to animals not cruelty’ (Mailbox, August 3).
I hate all this selective cruelty.
It’s okay if it’s a grey squirrel, a pigeon or rat, but not okay if it’s an animal we keep in our homes? Ray Elliott, who was prosecuted for killing a grey squirrel, puts food out for birds but drowns anything else he can catch trying to eat it.
Why can’t people just leave other creatures be? They have as much right to live as we do.
