Fake charity collections on the increase

I WAS so pleased to read that through the intervention of your newspaper, two fake charity collections have been stopped.

May I, through the same medium, advise readers to be aware of so many other plastic bag fake ‘charity’ collections which, in very small print, are either marked ‘European aid’ or ‘clothing aid’ and purporting to donate various amounts for every ton of clothing collected.

These are, nine times out of 10, delivered before 8am and are becoming more frequent, sometimes as often as three times a week.

As a consequence, a genuine cause like ‘Children With Cancer’ (I checked to make sure this was genuine) appear to suffer.

I only witnessed one bag besides mine being collected in the avenue where I live.

There have also been reports of bags put out for charities being taken and sold on.
