GPs' receptionists are no help to patients

WHAT is happening with some of the doctors’ surgeries in Burton-on-Trent? I ask because I am finding it extremely difficult to make an appointment to see my GP.

You phone to make an appointment and what do you get told? "We cannot make appointments over the phone, phone tomorrow morning at 8 o'clock." They will not even tell you when the doctor you ask for is free.

How do the doctors’ receptionists think patients can make appointments when they are at work? Are we supposed to suddenly stop working and ask our employers "Can we stop working to make a quick phone call?" Do they think patients are available for the receptionists’, surgeries’ and doctors’ convenience? I can remember when doctors were there for the patients’ benefit.
