AS a local resident I would like to add my voice to the many others that oppose plans for a pig ‘factory’ in the area.
If these plans go ahead, local residents will, in my opinion, suffer from smell, noise and disease-causing pollution.
The UK Health Protection Agency believes that intensive pig factories present a serious health risk to people living within a 250-metre radius, particularly babies and the elderly.
It will be even harder for small British farms to compete, to say nothing of the animal welfare conditions of living inside for their whole lives with no access to sun, wind or fresh air.
