Shoppers need to know of parking misery

ON December 11, I parked at the Burton Place rooftop car park and paid £1.40 for what I believed to be two hours’ parking.

On my return an hour and 40 minutes later, I discovered I had a parking ticket for £50.

I spoke to the parking attendant who stated that Sunday’s tarriff was different to weekdays.

That parking arrangement is 80p for one hour and £1.60 for a full day.

Several other shoppers were also caught out by this and were furious.

Surely if the tariff is different on a Sunday, the parking meter should have given me 60p change or informed me that I had not inserted sufficient funds, so I would have realised that the ticket I was trying to purchase was not available on Sundays.

I feel this is done to catch out shoppers to make a profit on fines.

I have tried to appeal the fine, but was refused.

Other shoppers should be warned about this.
