This pig plant proposal is unacceptable

I READ your story ‘Director defends pig farm proposal from the critics’ (June 23).

The opposition to this development is immense, and growing .

Did MPP take any local people on this fact finding tour? I am not aware of any ordinary members of the local community being invited.

It has also been intimated that the European site which was being used as an example was only 10 per cent of the size of this huge factory proposal, and did not have pigs in it – so it was a very poor comparison.

Objections are flooding in from all over the UK and beyond on welfare grounds, and 95 per cent per cent of the local residents are dead against it for reasons of excess noise, traffic etc.

Every person we approach in the local community is appalled by the size of this scheme, and the fact they want to build on a greenfield site, when there are suitable brownfield sites nearby.

Viva! has scccessfully halted two similar developments by pointing out obvious flaws in the design.

The same flaws are evident in this application.

Good luck to Viva! and let common sense and common decency prevail.
