Why is main road now a garage forecourt?

HAS anyone got an answer as to why a main road such as Stanton Road is now used as a garage forecourt, with vehicles for sale parked bumper to bumper? Apart from the obvious – no tax paid on the sale, no overheads and free advertising – these people take up parking spaces for residents and can cause accidents as motorists suddenly slow down to look.

The council isn’t interested, neither are the police.

But in my opinion, these people are operating a business. Why are they allowed to get away with it? Name and address supplied
