Your support was so very heart-warming

THROUGH the pages of the Burton Mail I would like to say a very big thank you to the people of Burton and the surrounding area who, over the weekend of December 10 and 11, dug deep into their pockets to support our Busk 4 Burton event.

Eric Reynolds kindly supplied the piano, moving it from The Octagon shopping centre on Saturday into Coopers Square on Sunday.

Shoppers were entertained by a variety of buskers who played a selection of wellknown favourites and Christmas classics for an hour each time.

Our thanks go to our fantastic buskers — Mrs Allen, Joy Hincks, 11-year-old Matthew Rhodes, Rob from Eric Reynolds, Graham Meers, John Thompson, George Handsacre, Mary Bigg, Dave Matthews, Ali Gretton, Reg Hand, Hayley Parkes, Susie Craig, Jenny Heathcote and Sophie, who asked if she could perform ‘Away in a Manger’.

One shopper was so overwhelmed by Matthew Rhodes’ talent she bought him a box of Christmas chocolates.

Together with our family Santa Dash around the Washlands, £600 was raised to help local people over the Christmas period.

It is so heartening to receive the support from the generous kind-hearted folk of Burton. Thank you to each and every one of them.
