Lynn Chapman, who has been a member of the board for eight years, took over the position earlier this week.
She said: “It’s an honour and a privilege. It’s good to have a change but our core vision is the same, supporting the staff and volunteers as best as we can.
Ms Chapman added that the biggest challenge the charity faces is the rapid growth in people who need their help.
The new trustee works as a human resources manager – experience of which she will bring to her new role.
