BURTON’S MP was full of festive cheer this year - sending out more than 20,000 Christmas cards.

Andrew Griffiths revealed that he and an army of volunteers delivered 21,000 festive greetings to a whole host of people.

He said: “I started sending them out to people and supporters when I became a candidate in the town and the list has just grown and grown since then.

“They were handed out by friends and supporters, everyone got involved and enjoys taking part.

“Somebody worked it out that if I was to send them all through the post it would cost around £11,000.

“However, I would just like to stress that this exercise was not put on expenses or paid for by the taxpayer, it was paid for out of my own pocket.

“It is something that I like to do and to try and spread a little bit of Christmas cheer.

“I just hope everyone enjoyed their card and had a good Christmas.”
