A CHARITY which provides treats for people with life threatening and shortening conditions will hold a magical children’s ball this weekend.

Me & Dee, whose founder, Maria Hanson, hails from Ticknall, has now declared its Magical World of Narnia ball, sold out, and has invited many extremely poorly children undergoing treatment, to attend.

The ball has been tailored to suit the needs of all children with a range of activities and even a sensory room for relaxation for those children who aren’t very well.

Ms Hanson said: “As soon as the children step through the wardrobe at the entrance to the Derby Conference Centre into Narnia they will experience something like never before, walking through a snow storm and forest towards the famous black lamp post to be met by Narnia characters.

“The children will be served tea in Mr Tumnus’ tea room before sitting back to watch a short scene from the film in the onsite cinema. Battle will commence after lunch with knights and dancers putting on a short performance to music from the films while the children watch from above.”

Various activities including face painting and games will take place, and the children will be greeted by the kind hearted snow queen accompanied by Prince Caspian whom have travelled on a horse drawn carriage. Aslan will follow along on a trike.

This unique occasion is not a fund-raising event and instead a special treat for many children.

A fund-raising disco is happening on the evening – supported by Derby’s Dance Floor Company with lookalike DJ Gok Wan, tribute act from Britney Spears look alike – performance from Stu Arnold.

Me & Dee works hard as a self funding charity to cover more than 20 nominations a month to provide treats for children who time is short and precious. The charity also provides comfort packs for children and their parents.
