AN exhibition on the Napoleonic Wars is now on display at a museum which commemorates soldiers from Burton.
The Staffordshire Regiment Museum, at Whittington Barracks, features the exhibition on the 38th Regiment of Foot, which made a name for itself at the Battle of San Sebastian in 1813.
Museum curator Danielle Pritchard said the star items are a set of six buttons excavated from the grave of one of the officers who died during the battle and have been loaned to the museum from the Spanish Government.
She added: “We have various artefacts from the period on display as well as some interesting imagery which show the town as it was then and as it is today.”
The exhibition, which will be on display for three weeks, is part of the lead-up to the museum’s commemorations of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo, which will take place in 2015.
Exhibition designer James Whittaker (pictured) will be available to answer questions from visitors from 10am until noon on Tuesday, September 10, from 10am until 4pm on Thursday, September 12, and from 1pm until 3pm on Friday, September 13.
