A NEW 100-mile walk is being created in the heart of the National Forest spanning the length of South Derbyshire.
Work is now starting on the National Forest Way long distance walk as it has been christened, and Groundwork is now looking for volunteers to be the first to get on the action.
Volunteers are needed to help with a new project to improve the network of footpaths and bridleways around Overseal. This project will involve helping to prioritise which routes in the area are most in need, as well as installing wicket gates, waymarking posts and discs.
These action days will take place during the week and also on the odd weekend. The project starts this month and will run through to April 2014. No special skills or knowledge are required, just a flexible and friendly attitude to make a difference.
