A NEW anthology of stories and poems crafted by a Burton creative group has been released.
Burton Monday Writers, the town’s afternoon creative writing group, have rounded off another successful year by producing an anthology of short stories written by members.
The book, entitled “Flights of Fancy”, contains 16 stories including several efforts which discuss the town and reflect the town’s connection with the brewing industry.
Lynda Turner, from the group said: “The collection includes not only prize-winning stories, but also those produced at the group’s regular Monday workshops.
“Many of the stories have been selected from internal and external competition entries.
“Three stories are Burton based and reflect the town’s connection with the brewing industry.
“The cover was designed by John Carpenter with artwork by visiting artist Maria Soldano.”

The group have also revealed that it will be releasing an ebook during 2014 of the new book.
Members have also issued a plea for budding writers to join the successful group.
A spokesman for the group said: “Burton Monday Writers is a friendly group of people interested in producing short stories, poetry, scripts, memoirs and novels. Membership is open to anyone over the age of 19 with a positive interest in creative writing.
“The group was formed in September 2000 and has grown into one of the most successful creative writing groups in the area and is affiliated to the National Association of Writing Groups (NAWG), members regularly participate in writing competitions and literary festivals.”
