AN improving primary school has officially taken the wraps off its brand-new classroom.
Year Five and Six pupils at Walton on Trent Primary School were given the first taste of their new surroundings following the official opening of the building.
The upgrade marks exciting times for the school, in Coton Road, with the new classroom commissioned in order to cope with its increasing pupil numbers.
Bosses spotted the need to make more room available with more and more children flocking to the school, which is rated as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted.
The new building, dubbed the learning lodge, will be used by the school’s oldest pupils in Years Five and Six.
Head teacher Caroline White said: “It was built right at the end of the last term in July and the children are just moving in.
“We’re an outstanding Ofsted school, with parents wanting their children to come here more and more.
“We’re a lovely village school and the space we had available wasn’t efficient, but the new classroom comes with an outdoor area and offers a calm oasis for learning.”
