Open gardens event set to wow new visitors

Written byROB SMYTH

DETAILS of the first National Gardens Scheme open gardens event have been announced.

The Bluebell Arboretum and Nursery, in Ashby, will open its doors to the public as the weather begins to steadily improve.

A spokesman for the event said: “This beautiful nine acre woodland garden which was planted over the last 20 years is open as part of the National Gardens Scheme, which raises money for charities such as Marie Curie and Macmillan and, despite its name, is not a wood full of bluebells.

“Instead it includes many species of rare trees and shrubs, with information posters describing the more obscure plants. “

Entrance is £2.50 for adults with children free of charge
