THE charity work carried out by a member of their favourite band inspired three friends to step up to the mark and take part in a fund-raising run.
Christina Ridgway, who lives in Woodville, Emma-Clare Rush, from Measham, and Alison Smith, who hails from Ashbourne, put their best feet forward to participate in the 5K fun run taking part alongside the Ashbourne half-marathon at the weekend, in an attempt to raise money for the Pituitary Foundation – a cause introduced to them through Mike Crawshaw, from The Overtones.
It was the first run any of them had taken part in, and they raised just over £400 for the charity.
Miss Ridgway told the Mail: “I am glad to say we all completed it with no problems, I am extremely proud of all three of us.
“Big thanks goes out to everyone who supported us and sponsored us.
“I would also like to say a personal thanks to Mike Crawshaw for introducing the charity to us, if it weren’t for him I wouldn’t have been challenging myself and feeling so proud of what we’ve achieved.”
