BUSINESSES from Burton have been flipping out in a bid to win the town’s annual pancake race.

The Supa Dupa Uba Boys, from Uba Rooms, in High Street, returned to defend their title and managed to win the trophy for the second year running.
Danny Sheahan, the team’s captain, said: “I feel really happy that we’ve retained the title and it just means we’ll have to come back next year to defend it again and keep Uba Rooms’ name on the trophy.
“We were a little bit worried at the start because we only had three people in the team, which meant one of us had to run twice. But we managed to do it and win.”
Traditionally, the race has been held in Market Square, with relay runners racing around the market – but yesterday, participants ran around the Memorial Gardens, in Lichfield Street, instead.
The teams included Cooper’s Square shopping centre staff dressed as the directory enquiries 118 team, and staff from supermarkets Asda and Sainsbury’s.
Specsavers Opticians, in High Street, who wore princess outfits, took the prize for the best dressed.
Town centre manager Paul Howard said: “Another ‘congratulations’ to Uba Rooms for picking up the trophy for the second year running, and ‘thanks’ to the crowd, who turned out to see it. It was another good event and everything went to plan.”
