A POLISH man savagely assaulted his partner after an argument over a Christmas party, a court heard.
Anna Borecka was left with bruises under both her eyes and on the bridge of her nose after being punched several times by boyfriend Slawomir Adamczyk at their Burton home.
Adamczyk was said to have taken exception to the fact he had not been invited to a Christmas party that his partner was due to attend.
The 31-year-old, of Anglesey Road, decided that if he couldn’t, then neither should his girlfriend.
The pair rowed and after Ms Borecka struck her partner in the chest, Adamczyk launched into the brutal assault.
Andrew Bodger, prosecuting at Burton Magistrates’ Court, said: “He didn’t want her to go. He called her various names and told her she wasn’t going.
“The argument continues and she is not happy with the insults and punches him in the chest - she admits she hit him first - and as a result he grabs her by the neck and shakes her.
“Later in the evening he continues to insult her, approaches her and punches her several times in the face.”
The court heard how Ms Borecka became fearful during the ordeal and had sent a text message to her friend saying ‘help’.
Magistrates were told that Ms Borecka wanted her boyfriend to be punished for his actions, but despite what had happened was still willing to take him back.
Adamczyk, who had pleaded guilty to two counts of assault at a previous hearing, was handed a 12-month community order and must complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
He was also made to pay costs of £145.
