DETECTIVES are hoping to track down a thug wearing a ‘Scream’ mask made famous in the horror film of the same name, following a vicious assault.
The search also comes at the same time an investigation is launched after a 16-year-old boy was taken on a terrifying ride while being assaulted.
The teenager had been walking in Oversetts Road, Newhall, on Saturday, between 3.45pm and 4.15pm when a white van pulled up alongside him.
The teenager got into the van and was then allegedly assaulted by two men and a youth known to the victim as the van was driven around the village.
A short time later the victim was taken to a BMW car parked in Alma Road and was assaulted again as the car was driven around the area.
The victim escaped with minor injuries after the vehicle stopped in a car park.
Police would like to speak to anyone who saw a white van and a blue/green BMW in the Newhall area around the time of the incident.
A 16-year-old boy and three men aged 18, 24 and 52 were arrested and released on bail pending further inquiries.
The terrifying assault comes after another 16-year-old boy was cycling along Castle Road, Castle Gresley, at about 8pm on Friday, February 15 when three men emerged from a driveway and blocked his path.
Police have only just released information about the offence in which one man punched the teenager in the face while another pushed him off his bike. This man then rode off on the victim’s bike while the remaining two men punched and kicked the boy to the head and body, stealing his mobile phone which they then dropped. The victim called his father, who rang the police.
All three men were in their late teens or early 20s and around 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall.
The man who stole the boy’s bike is stocky and wore black tracksuit trousers, a black hooded top with the hood up and a black baseball cap with a ‘NY’ logo on the front.
Another man wore a white mask as seen in the film ‘Scream’, a black hooded top with the hood up, black tracksuit trousers and black Nike trainers.
The third man wore black tracksuit trousers with three blue stripes down the legs, Adidas hooded top with three stripes down the arms and a black bandana over his face.
The boy suffered bruising to his face, stomach and arm. His bicycle was later recovered nearby.
Anyone with information about both incidents should call Derbyshire CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
