A SECOND wave of raids in Burton has netted 14 suspected drug dealers today.

They were arrested on suspicion of supplying Class A and Class B drugs. The raids followed a large-scale operation in Burton last month.

The suspects, 12 males aged between 15 and 47 and two women aged 26 and 28, were detained on suspicion of supplying drugs including heroin, crack cocaine and MCAT and taken to custody for interview.

The raids involved more than 250 officers and police staff and followed months of detailed investigation and planning by specialist investigation teams from Staffordshire Police.

On January 16, similar raids in Burton saw 18 people arrested, of which 16 were subsequently charged for drug supply offences.

Chief Inspector Steve Maskrey, Local Policing Team Commander for East Staffordshire, said: "Operation Nemesis is Staffordshire Police's commitment to tackling major drug dealers and bringing them to justice. Drugs misuse will not be tolerated in Staffordshire."
