Pub trade apprentices get mentoring assistance

Written byHELEN KREFT

A BURTON based pub company has been celebrating National Apprenticeships Week with the launch of an Apprentice Mentoring Scheme for its licensees and their pub teams.

Members of Punch’s Burton headquarters, who have successfully completed a Level 2 or 3 Apprenticeship, have been matched with Punch pub team members currently working towards a qualification.

The Punch mentors will offer the benefit of their experience, having completed a qualification at the same level, and aim to support and reassure the pub team members as they work through their qualification.

Punch telesales account manager, Phillip Morton will mentor Brandon Ferguson at Ye Olde Royal Oak, in the Market Place, Burton.

Brandon, along with more than 80 other Punch pubs team members are currently working through the BIIBAB Level 2 Apprenticeship in Licensed Hospitality – designed to enable pub employees to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to build careers in the licensed trade.

Licensees who take on a new Apprentice for the first time also get a £1,500 incentive payment.
