EMPLOYEES from a Swadlincote superstore have made a special visit to find out how its Active Kids vouchers have benefitted a local school.
Jenny Laud, PR Ambassador for Sainsbury’s, in Civic Way, Swadlincote, and colleague, Paula Hallam, visited St Edwards Primary School, in Newhall Road, to see how the school had benefited from the Active kids vouchers that have been collected in the Sainsbury’s stores.
The school has collected more than 20,000 vouchers which bought the pupils tennis balls, netball bibs and balls, plastic hockey sticks, basket ball kits, and bucket blast games to just name a few.
Mrs Laud said: “Collecting these vouchers really helped them to buy these items for their PE lessons.
“In 2012 £1,805,901 vouchers was collected within the Derbyshire area alone from the Sainsbury’s stores.”
Sainsbury’s customers are invited to collect Active Kids vouchers when they shop at Sainsbury’s between January 30 and May 22 and donate them to their local nursery, school, Scout or Guide group or sports club. These organisations can then redeem them for active and sports equipment and experiences, and much much more.
Active Kids vouchers for this year start again on January 30.
