NEW plans for a former snooker hall have been submitted.
Mohammed Shabir has applied to East Staffordshire Borough Council for permission to change the use of the hall at 164 High Street, Burton, to 14 self contained apartments.
Planning permission already given for mixed use development of former nightclub The Refinery opposite the hall in Andressey Passage.
The applicant says the proposed development will assist in improving security and reduce the risk of crime in the area through creation of windows overlooking the footpath and the rear of neighbouring properties.
There will also be space for seven cars
Mr Shabir added: “Concern has been expressed by officers of the council that occupiers may be subject to unacceptable levels of noise.
However site visits at different times of the day and evening have not shown this to be the case.
“Given that the refinery is to be converted to residential use, a potential noisy neighbour, will cease to exist in the near future.”
