THERE might not be much ‘bob, bob, bobbin’ along’ here, judging by this robin’s generously proportioned girth.
Captured at Branston Water Park by Mail reader Peter Hopper, it looks as though it has enjoyed one Christmas dinner too many, and is a prime candidate for the avian equivalent of WeightWatchers.
But who can blame the robin for stocking up, judging by the wintery conditions now holding Burton and South Derbyshire in their grip?
It has to eat when it can; and if this means piling on the pounds, then so be it.
If nothing else, all that weight allows the robin to show off its spectacular plumage.
