SLIDESHOW - Scrum on down with Martin Johnson, leader of the pack

Written byROB SMYTH

AN England rugby legend dusted off his old boots to put youngsters at an East Staffordshire school through their paces.

Former World Cup-winning captain Martin Johnson conducted several rugby sessions at Blessed Robert Sutton Catholic School, in Bluestone Lane, Stapenhill, for a selection of youngsters from across all year groups.

A spokesman said: “The children really enjoyed the day and Martin was great with them.

“He is regarded as one of the greatest locks to have ever played and we were happy to have him.”

Martin Johnson is an English former rugby union player who represented and captained England and Leicester.

He is mostly known for captaining England to victory in the World Cup in 2003.

He toured three times with the British and Irish Lions, becoming the only man to have captained them on two separate tours.

He also led his club Leicester Tigers to consecutive Heineken Cup victories.
