A FURNITURE expert who has helped to spruce up homes across Burton and South Derbyshire is retiring tomorrow after more than 30 years in the business.
Sandra Silvester will sell her final chair and table from Just In House, off Wharf Road, after deciding to call it a day after 33 years of trading from the site.
She told the Mail about plans to enjoy ‘adventure, fun and some sun’ following her decision.
She said: “People keep asking ‘are you sad to be leaving ?’ and my answer is no.
“I am looking forward to putting my feet up as now feels like the right time to retire.
“I have operated a business here for the last 33 years and, despite retiring, I still own the fabulous building and so will always have a vested interest in it.”
The firm was well known in the area as Just In Pinewood before becoming Just In House eight years ago.
The Rolleston resident added: “I am walking off into the sunset with my head held high after having done everything I want to in business.
“I have lots of things that I want to do and this will include visiting friends in America, taking more trips to London to visit my daughter and grandaughter and also spending a lot more time playing golf.”
However, the site will retain a furniture feel with firm Trade Secrets set to take the spot of Just In House during the coming weeks.
The departing owner said: “I started life here as an antique pine dealer and this was one of the reasons that I was so attracted to the site because it fit in well with what I was trying to sell.
“Over the years the business has changed and evolved as has the building.
“It now as well as the furniture shop there is also a coffee shop and a beauty salon.
“The firm that is coming will offer a more modern take on furniture but it will be nice to think that there will be something what I like still around.
“After 33 years it is so nice to look back and see how everything has changed and grown, especially when you look back from where it all began.”
