THE MAIL is urging readers to back our campaign to save closure-threatened psychiatric unit Margaret Stanhope.
The ‘Save Our Stanhope’ (SOS) campaign is urging readers to back our fight to keep mental health beds in Burton.
Health bosses sparked the campaign when they triggered a three-month consultation on the service by announcing their preferred option was to axe all of the Margaret Stanhope Centre’s beds.
The Mail believes this is an ill-judged and unacceptable attack on health care in Burton which must be defeated for the good of the vulnerable and defenceless, as well as the welfare of our community at large.
Paper copies of the petition can be obtained from the Mail office, in High Street, Burton, or by telephoning 01283 524854.
Anyone wishing to comment on the closure plans can email adrian.jenkins@burtonmail.co.uk or write to Save Our Stanhope campaign, Burton Mail, 65-68, High Street, Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire, DE14 1LE.
Comments will be compiled into a dossier to be sent with the completed petitions to South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust and South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
We, the undersigned, believe strongly in the future of the Margaret Stanhope Centre. We believe it’s essential to have mental health beds in Burton and call upon South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust and South Staffordshire and Shropshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to guarantee the viable future of the Margaret Stanhope.
