School gets top hygiene marks

Written byBY HELEN KREFT

A PRIMARY school kitchen has been give top marks from a food hygiene inspection.

St Modwen’s Primary School, in Belvoir Road, Burton, has been visited by environment health officers from East Staffordshire Borough Council and was given five out of a possible five stars in the authority’s Rate my Place scheme.

The kitchen staff was told to clean ventilation filters above the hob and ensure that the cleaning of food contact surfaces involved a two-stage cleaning process – cleaning and disinfection, as using a sanitiser spray for cleaning work surfaces will remove dirt and will reduce bacteria but cannot do both of these at the same time.
