A SCHOOL in Barton under Needwood has been rewarded for its ‘outstanding achievement’
The PE department at John Taylor High School has been handed the gold award by the Government for its efforts in trying to get more youngsters involved in sport following the success of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
A spokesman for the school said: “It is an honour to share with you that we have been found to offer the highest level of provision and subsequently awarded gold.
“To be recognised as providing a gold standard of provision is an outstanding achievement.
“However, to be the first and only school in the county to have been awarded gold, truly is testament to the commitment and effort shown by all members of staff and students who regularly give up their time to promote and encourage extra-curricular school sport.
“For all of our extra-curricular clubs all pupils’ are welcome.”
