A SOUTH Derbyshire school has unveiled ambitious plans to demolish its science block with a new state-of-the-art maths and PE department to be built in its place.
Plans have been submitted to carry out the work at the Repton School in The Lodge.
These are exciting times for the affluent school with the proposed development the latest change in the pipeline, with its current science block now dormant following the development of the new building at the site which is also nearing completion.
The plan will see a two-storey building moved onto the site, two be divided between maths and PE.
It is part of the school’s plan to modernise the look of the school, with the current science block in need of replacing for some time.
A planning statement issued to South Derbyshire District Council on behalf of Repton School said: “The school’s most recent development, the Repton Science Priory is nearing completion and as a result the existing science block will soon decant to the priory and will become redundant.
“The two-storey block will occupy a similar footprint to the existing science block and with a more pitched roof it is hoped it will sit more comfortably in its context and provide a focal point to the precinct as viewed on the approach from Willington.”
