A SERVICE that helps people get back on the jobs ladder has been handed a grant to undertake a project for five years.
East Staffordshire Community and Voluntary Service (ESCVS) has been awarded the five year grant from the Big Lottery Fund for its ‘Let’s Get Going’ project.
The grant is to support individuals in East Staffordshire to give them access to personal development opportunities to gain employment.
“We aim to provide one to one support for individuals seeking work, employment opportunities or just wanting to improve their skills through informal workshops and practical experiences in the community,” said Carolyn Coxon, development manager for ESCVS. “Increasingly we are being asked for support from vulnerable people who have been unemployed for some time.
“Many have mental health issues or learning difficulties and we are thrilled that we can now offer this service to them to enhance their personal development and self empowerment.”
Chris Mayor, chairman of ESCVS, said: “ I am absolutely delighted that Reaching Communities Programme of the Big Lottery has provided the funding for this much needed project for East Staffordshire.
“Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers will be working hard over the next few weeks to expand our services to provide this support to people in East Staffordshire”
