A HAIRDRESSERS has come up with a unique way to broaden its customer base by launching a sign language service.
Ego Hairdressing, in High Street, Burton, has launched the service with the help of its creative stylist, Suzanne Hodkinson, who own child suffers from profound hearing loss.
She said: “I am now excited to be able to broaden this client base and offer my skills to a wider audience through the use of sign language.
“I am a mother of two children and my eldest has profound hearing loss and no speech and therefore our main form of communication at home involves signing. We both use Makaton and British Sign Language.
“I can relate to families and individuals that use signing and appreciate how challenging it can be to communicate everyday with people that are unable to sign.
“I would like to think that when my daughter is old enough to go into a salon to have her hair done without me there that she could be understood. This is what I am offering, not just a hair cut but a friendly and welcoming experience to people like my daughter that have hearing loss or rely on sign language.”
