DRIVERS in Burton and South Derbyshire have been boosted by news that supermarket giants have announced further cuts in fuel prices.
Sainsbury’s, in Civic Way, Swadlincote, have slashed 6p off a litre - sending prices below 130p for the first time in months.
Tesco, based off St Peter’s Bridge, in Burton, has also announced a cut of 3p with Morrisons, which has forecourts in Wellington Road, Burton, and Sir Herbert Wragg Way, Swadlincote, stating that it would remain ‘competitive’.
Earlier this week the Mail revealed that a pre-Christmas petrol price war had been started after 2p was knocked off a litre of petrol across the country by major supermarkets.
The cuts were welcomed by the RAC and the AA. More information on prices in the area, and any fluctuations due to the price drops, is available at www.petrolprices.com
