ELVIS Presley is alive and well and living in Ashby raising money for Cancer Research, it has been revealed.
However, David Eason was the real man behind the King of Rock and Roll as he rattled buckets for shoppers in aid of Cancer Research UK.
The 65-year-old charity volunteer managed to raise £300 along with his colleagues at the charity shop, in Market Street, when staff held a fun day on Saturday.
The pensioner said: “I volunteer for the Cancer Research shop, in Market Street, Ashby, and I have been there for about three weeks.
“On Saturday they held a fun day with face painting, a tombola and a cupcake sale and they asked me to put on the suit and rattle a bucket dressed as Elvis.
“I used to sing Elvis. Each time I went on holiday, I would do a bit of karaoke and each time took more items down, such as the suit, then the discs. I would do spots around pub in Tenerife and Gran Canaria and the occasional birthday.
“On Saturday, I went out into the street as Elvis and lots of shoppers were stopping by asking for a few songs and going into the shop.
“We managed to raise £300 which is brilliant.
“I loved doing it and everyone just thought it was great and went into the shop.”
