Written byMARK MCKAY

THE performance of council services will be debated when community leaders meet today.

A progress report to South Derbyshire District Council’s audit sub-committee shows how the authority has performed in sectors including people management corporate governance and leisure centres.

The sub-committee, chaired by deputy leader of the district council John Harrison (right), will meet at 4pm in the committee room in the council offices, in Civic Way, Swadlincote.

The report revealed an audit of the council’s VAT assignment achieved the rating ‘comprehensive’ - the highest level of assurance which can be given.

An audit of the district council’s corporate governance, housing allocation and payroll achieved the same rating.

An audit of the performance of the authority’s leisure centres, people management and procurement achieved the rating of ‘reasonable’.
