Toy and train fair organisers are chuffed with turnout
HUNDREDS of toy and model railway enthusiasts have made tracks to an extravaganza in Burton.
Visitors crammed into Burton Town Hall for the first of seven toy fairs being staged this year.
Up to 200 people attended the event, which took place on Wednesday, to see what was on offer. A total of 50 stalls were available selling an array of toys, collectable items and rare and vintage train sets.
Malcolm Townsend, who started his own toy fair a year ago, told the Mail: “Stalls wise it was a sell-out and we have even sold out for our second event in March.
“We had more than 30 traders selling a wide variety of toys and railway sets and there is always a good choice of goods.
“The event gets more popular each year and they are always very successful. We had very positive feedback and people come from all over the place to these events.”
Mr Townsend this year took over the organising of the event from Roger Minkley, who stood down from the role in December.
He added: “Roger has been running the events for 14 years and it was my first time as organiser. I feel it went very well.
“Everyone really enjoyed it and said they were looking forward to the next one.”
By focusing on outcomes, the schemes will encourage providers to target their efforts where they can achieve the greatest success and encourage professional discretion in the management of offenders.
